Praying During Busy Time

busy

With family, friends, kids and busy schedules, sometimes we find it so hard to make out time for prayer. We get so caught up with the daily activities that we fail to realize that we have abandoned our relationship with God.

The first thing that most time makes weight in our busy schedule is our prayer time. If this happens for far too long, we discover that we have been so away from God that we start to wonder what has become of our life. Without Him, we are nothing,

“For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring.” (Acts 17:28)

How then do you ensure that this doesn’t happen? How do you pray when life gets too busy? How do you ensure your relationship with God doesn’t suffer? How do we stay in the place of prayer?

Everyone needs prayer. I hope we have realized that by now? When life gets too muddled up with so many schedules, setting aside some time to pray can become lost despite knowing that we need prayer.

Some do not realize how far behind they are in prayer until Sunday when they, at last, take a seat at church. Those few hours when we do not get disturbed with continuous notifications from our mobile phones or excessive disturbance from our kids. That moment when no requests or checklists can get to us, we feel a fresh breath.

At the moment when you sit among the congregation, you realize that your heart truly misses communicating with God about everything. You miss the being in His presence. You miss the peace that comes with being in His presence and the delight of just hearing His word.

A quality and life-changing prayer life is conceivable. It doesn’t matter if you have a very busy schedule, God always wants to have a relationship with you. He wants you to just come and experience His peace, so he can speak His words of love to you, and to fill you with His presence.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 KJV)

Prayer can be likened to sharing a personal moment with a friend or a relative. At times like this, you don’t need to say a word. The bible tells us that Jesus is praying for us.

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” (Roman 8:34 KJV)

You need to be God’s beloved. You need to top off your heart with the solace of God’s love for you. As you do this, be assured that Jesus is praying for you.

Instead of always struggling to be with Jesus, welcome Him into your world.

“Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hewbrews 4:11-12 KJV)

“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31:3)

Being busy might be what’s gripping your heart at the moment. Do not despair, Jesus understands you. He doesn’t judge you.

“Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.” (Isaiah 49:16 KJV)

“And he that sat upon the throne said, behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, write: for these words are true and faithful.” (Revelation 21:5)

Let this lovely truth always reside in your heart, and you will discover that Jesus’ hand is always reaching out to yours. When this happens, being busy will never again have a hold on you anymore. You will be, instead, in the caring presence of the One who calls you. You will realize that Jesus is there with you as well.

One prayer that can also help you remain in His presence and which you can render every day of your life is the psalm of David. It’s simple enough to memorize but powerful enough to get through any situation in any day,

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalms 23:1-6)

When things look rough or too busy, this is one prayer that you can always say to God.
