What Prayer Can Do For You

Never underestimate the power of prayer and what it can do in your life.

Prayer is an essential tool that opens the door of miracles to our lives. People who pray get whatever they ask God. Prayer, indeed, leads to blessing when we ask appropriately.

Prayer, although the most simple task anyone can perform, often appears very difficult. The reason behind the ordeal is that Satan knows that people get a solution to their problem through prayer, so he makes the exercise seems complicated.

Calling unto God and making a request before him is not a strenuous exercise. It’s actually an exciting effort. Because prayer, once performed, gives us a sense of accomplishment.

Don’t misconceive prayer

It is not the prayers that must be considered as a solution, but God who answers prayers. A person who prays to any deity other than God should not be expecting an answer. Only the prayer sent to God returns a blessing.

People who engage in prayers get their rewards

Prayer rewards those who engage in it. We all have a moment of needs in our lives and need the intervention of God. We want the higher power to come to our aid.

At what point does prayer become an impossible task?

The exercise of communicating with God becomes challenging when we focus on any problem or a challenge that rises. In other words, pressure can build up to the point that a person under difficulty can forget to call on “God of solution.”

What should you do when prayer gets tough?

Do anything that can divert your attention from your problem. One effective option to consider is to start praising God. (This may sound tough, but trust me, it is doable!)

As you praise God during a difficult time, God becomes magnified, and the magnitude of your problem becomes reduced.

One more thing to consider when a problem is pushing you beyond praying is to read your Bible. Read the word of God to gain strength. Of course, this option may not be easily understood, but if you try it, you will discover that the Spirit of God will dominate your mind and also take over your situation.

Learning About The Importance of Prayer

Prayer is one of the highest benefits given to man. It is through prayer that we can communicate with our Father, the Almighty God, and Supreme Ruler of the whole universe.

What a great benefit it is to communicate with God every time! We do not need to have to set up a specific time or routine to communicate with God.

Without doubt, prayer is marvelous. You need to realize that God is capable of giving answer to everything we ask.

The Bible is plain and clear about what we ought to pray to God for. It is one of the greatest mysteries of the universe.

The Bible teaches that whenever we ask for anything in the name of Jesus, we receive answer.

Praying just because we should pray isn’t enough, the truth is that prayer is significantly more than a way of life.

Prayer helps us to become more like Christ, and it opens up what the heart of God is to us.

Looking at the life of Jesus, we can see that He pray with others,

“And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.” (Luke 9:28 KJV)

He prayed for others,

“Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, suffer little children, and forbade them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:13-14 KJV)

And he prayed on his own,

“And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.” (Luke 5:16 KJV)

“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” (Luke 6:12 KJV)

Importance of Prayer Can’t Be Argued

Prayer was such an important thing to Jesus—it was the connection he has with the Heavenly Father. It prepared him for the challenges he was going to encounter. Through prayers, he kept a close relationship with the heavenly Father. It also revealed to him what the desires of God were.

If a Christian wants to be like Jesus, he/she must emulating his ways and live by his words. As we pray, we become more like Christ, and we will find that prayer helps us to become closer to him.

Prayer empowers us to become one with the Father and have the kind of relationship that Christ had with him.

The Bible is loaded up with stories that show how God wants to have a good relationship with Him, and communication is a vital tool in that relationship.

If you have a friend, and it gets to a point where you start losing communication, you discover that friendship will suffer and never progress. Furthermore, since prayer is more or less a conversation with God, it is the means by which we get used to His ways.

The importance of prayer. Prayer humbles us, and when we begin to carry that mind of humility, we understand how amazing and great God is and how much we really need Him.

God knows that we are not perfect and he accepts us as such, not because He wants us to remain like that, but He knows that His relationship with us helps our infirmity. He wants us to be humble before Him and realize that we are nothing without Him.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2 KJV).

He’s promised that if we are humble, He will hear our prayer and forgive our sins,

“If my people, who are called by my  name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicle 7:14 KJV)

A Note on the Importance of Prayer

He wants us to become more like Him and less like ourselves. And the best way to ensure this is through prayer.

As we start to honor him, we become more like Him. He knows that when we see His mercy and kindness towards us, we will extend that gesture too to other people.

When we realize that we don’t pay for God’s grace, we discover that everyone is deserving of God’s grace, and this transforms us, helping us to know His heart towards others and how much He loves us.

Prayer is a conversation that goes both ways. And that is the best thing about it.

It is not enough to just talk to God, we must be able to spend time with Him so as to hear from Him.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5 KJV)

Before Jesus selected his disciples, he prayed all night,

“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; Simon, (whom he also named Peter), and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.” (Luke 6:12-16)

Indeed prayer is important!

As we have talked about the importance of prayer, we must come to the realization that God must be at the center of every decision we make in life. And the best way to ensure this is to always be in his presence – through prayer.

Praying During Busy Time

busy

With family, friends, kids and busy schedules, sometimes we find it so hard to make out time for prayer. We get so caught up with the daily activities that we fail to realize that we have abandoned our relationship with God.

The first thing that most time makes weight in our busy schedule is our prayer time. If this happens for far too long, we discover that we have been so away from God that we start to wonder what has become of our life. Without Him, we are nothing,

“For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring.” (Acts 17:28)

How then do you ensure that this doesn’t happen? How do you pray when life gets too busy? How do you ensure your relationship with God doesn’t suffer? How do we stay in the place of prayer?

Everyone needs prayer. I hope we have realized that by now? When life gets too muddled up with so many schedules, setting aside some time to pray can become lost despite knowing that we need prayer.

Some do not realize how far behind they are in prayer until Sunday when they, at last, take a seat at church. Those few hours when we do not get disturbed with continuous notifications from our mobile phones or excessive disturbance from our kids. That moment when no requests or checklists can get to us, we feel a fresh breath.

At the moment when you sit among the congregation, you realize that your heart truly misses communicating with God about everything. You miss the being in His presence. You miss the peace that comes with being in His presence and the delight of just hearing His word.

A quality and life-changing prayer life is conceivable. It doesn’t matter if you have a very busy schedule, God always wants to have a relationship with you. He wants you to just come and experience His peace, so he can speak His words of love to you, and to fill you with His presence.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 KJV)

Prayer can be likened to sharing a personal moment with a friend or a relative. At times like this, you don’t need to say a word. The bible tells us that Jesus is praying for us.

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” (Roman 8:34 KJV)

You need to be God’s beloved. You need to top off your heart with the solace of God’s love for you. As you do this, be assured that Jesus is praying for you.

Instead of always struggling to be with Jesus, welcome Him into your world.

“Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hewbrews 4:11-12 KJV)

“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31:3)

Being busy might be what’s gripping your heart at the moment. Do not despair, Jesus understands you. He doesn’t judge you.

“Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.” (Isaiah 49:16 KJV)

“And he that sat upon the throne said, behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, write: for these words are true and faithful.” (Revelation 21:5)

Let this lovely truth always reside in your heart, and you will discover that Jesus’ hand is always reaching out to yours. When this happens, being busy will never again have a hold on you anymore. You will be, instead, in the caring presence of the One who calls you. You will realize that Jesus is there with you as well.

One prayer that can also help you remain in His presence and which you can render every day of your life is the psalm of David. It’s simple enough to memorize but powerful enough to get through any situation in any day,

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalms 23:1-6)

When things look rough or too busy, this is one prayer that you can always say to God.

PRAY ALWAYS – NO MORE EXCUSE

PRAY ALWAYS – NO MORE EXCUSE

pray always

PRAY ALWAYS

The first thing that most of us chalk off our to-do list when things get busy is prayer. But this should not be so!

Prayer shouldn’t be something that makes way on our to-do list, in fact, it shouldn’t even be on our to-do list.

The Bible admonishes us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 that we “pray without ceasing”.

Most times we have ridiculous assumptions regarding how much time we will spend in prayer.

Those who are always busy typically prefer to get a great deal “done.” So we often set objectives that are off the mark with what we are practically ready to do.

To be plain and simple, a lot of people expect that if they’re not praying for an hour daily, it is not justified, despite any benefit.

Or, on the other hand, they expect that since they are not praying every day there’s no point. “Why even trouble?” they think.

The first thing you need to do is to be sensitive. Start with ten minutes in the dawn of the day or at dusk.

Pray Always – No Excuse Is Good Enough

I don’t think that is too much to spare for the One who creates the Universe! It needn’t be anything over that, in any case.

Let’s consider a personal relationship as an instance. Assuming a sibling you haven’t heard from in a long while called and wants to spend quality time with you, wouldn’t you love that?

Consider God welcoming your prayer like that. God will appreciate those minutes.

There’s no correct or better or more right approach to pray. Whatever works best for you is just enough. All you need is to be able to incorporate prayer into your busy life.

A busy schedule can squeeze out prayer out of your life. Some of us want to incorporate prayer time into our busy lifestyle, but we find out that we hardly have enough space for that in our to-do list.

We want to set up a time to be with God, but most times, we fail at arriving at such time.

Pray always. We must realize that we do not need a special place or time to be with God. He is everywhere.

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)

He’s promised to always be with us,

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you.” (Isaiah 43:2)

You need to consider to pray always. Can you see that you don’t need to be at a specific place or set an alarm for a particular time before you can access His presence?

His presence is ever with us, we just need to access it through prayer. The only thing required is to have the right mind and attitude.

“Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall in his holy place? He that hath a clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his souk unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.” (Psalms 24:3-4)

Many of us ride public transport or drive to work every day. You can transform that quiet time on the bus or in your car to a prayer time. It will help you calm your mind on a busy road or under heavy traffic.

You can also pray as you do that walk around in your neighborhood or during your workout.

The benefit of growing and connecting with Him is always there and this helps you grow deeper with Him.

Everyone has at least one waiting time in a day. Whether when you are waiting for the doctor, at your boss’ door, or when you are waiting for your children at the bus stop.

You can make use of those times to communicate with God in prayer. Prayer God doesn’t have to be anything formal.

Pray Always: Some Uncommon Places of Prayer

For those of us who always have

housework, those with loads of tasks that require just your hands. You can make use of those times when you are doing your laundry, vacuuming, cooking, and mowing to communicate with God.

Another free time we always have in our hands is our bathroom breaks. It might sound a little gross. But why not take that time to ask for something or thank Him for He has done for you.

If you take advantage of these moments, trust me, your prayer life would improve drastically. Pray always. Do not waste those moments.

Do not be in the habit of saying I don’t have enough free time on my hands to pray. No! Everyone showers right? Some even love the long one. That is another opportunity and time to pour out your heart to Him.

All these rest on one sole requirement – give your life to Christ. It won’t matter if you pray or how much time you took to pray, if you are connected to God, your prayers won’t ascend to heaven.

The only way to subscribe to this connection is through Christ,

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

Benefits of Daily Prayer

Important Benefits of Daily Prayer

Since it has become so easy to get carried away with schedules and ignore the place of prayer, it’s worthy to know and always remind ourselves some of the benefits of prayer.

This will bring us back on track whenever we are moving away from God’s presence.

The most effective and only solution to this problem is to have a very good relationship with your heavenly Father.

  • It helps you find direction in life

Prayer isn’t only praying to God for Him to do something for you, it also gives an answer to some questions you may have in your life.

  • It aligns your will with God’s will

The purpose of prayer is not necessarily telling God what you need and how He should do it for you.

It is to better to understand Him and His ways by aligning yourself with His will. C.S. Lewis said, “Prayer doesn’t change God. It changes me.”

  • It works miracles in all ramifications

In the Old Testament, Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den because he refused to stop praying, despite the fact that prayer had been declared unlawful. In the lion’s den, Daniel prayed to God, and angels showed up and closed the mouths of the lions.

Through dedicated daily prayer, you experience the hand of God in numerous aspects of your life.

When you pray, you receive assurance of peace, and forgiveness of sins.

The Holy Spirit can help your relationship with God. It helps you to feel God’s affection.

Numerous studies have shown that daily prayer has a significant impact on your physical well-being. There are a couple of reasons for this. When you pray daily, it reduces the rate of stress.

It also helps you to sleep soundly, and stay focused mentally.

  • It offers you divine help

Daily Prayer is about your relationship with God.

It is good to understand scriptures and to go to church services, but the most important thing is cultivating a personal relationship with God, and that is done through prayer.

Daily prayer is a very effective way to gain strength. It is what determines your strength and ability even in the most difficult times.

Having the support and encouraging words of friends and families is certainly one significant tool for overcoming some challenges, however, nothing compares with having daily communication with God.

God gives you the strength to overcome challenges in times of trouble.

  • It helps you to achieve greatness

Each addict knows about experiencing the sensation of disappointment or blame. The truth of using is that it leads one to settle on decisions that are unsafe to both themselves and others.

The great thing about prayer is that it opens a recovering addict up to forgiveness.

Through prayer, we can, at last, achieve peace and serenity, and start to push ahead in good living and happiness, without being left behind in the past that is loaded with mistakes and fright.

Daily prayer also allows us to forgive others who may have wronged us in the past. Doing this helps resolve outrage and resentment that we may not know we are harboring.

As we all know that communication is very important in any relationship; this also applies to our relationship with God.

As we relate with him through prayers, we are refreshing our relationship with him.

How does communication affect our relationship with God?

Through prayer, we are able to interact with God: We talk to him; We get him to hear us, and we get to hear him also.

Through our communication with God, we are able to express our feelings to God. God also expresses his desires to our heart.

(Our expressions may include telling God how we feel about a matter, and how issues that dare to our hearts need his attention).

Does God understand how we feel as we express them? Yes, of course!

The scriptures states,

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15 KJV).

  • Prayer opens our mind to experience the love of God.

Something unique is passed down to us when we interact with God through prayer – The love of God. Our love for God grows whenever we approach him in prayer.

As the scripture states,

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God” (Psalm 42:1).

Prayer unlocks doors of heaven and forces our blessings to be released.

Our request made to God through effective communication (persistent prayer) is like adding icing on the cake.

The good Lord who is initially willing to bless us will double his interest and bless us more.

Indeed, prayer means communicating with God. Prayers will work to anyone’s advantage any time any day!

Reader’s suggestions:

Prayer vs. Silence

You Need Prayers To Have Victory!

Prayer vs. Silence

silence

Prayer is helpful to help anyone get a solution to his problem. When people pray, they get whatever they want from God. Prayer is better than silence.

While silence may signify satisfaction and contentment, prayer makes you engage in a practical exercise that positions you into groaning and yearning for a solution to any problem.

Prayer also puts you in a position of anticipating a solution for your problem.

Some blessings may be hanging in the air as a result of silence, but when prayer is involved, doors of heaven are forced open for your blessings to rain down.

God’s abundant blessings come through prayer!

Prayer is essential for believers, as the scripture states:

“Men are always ought to pray and not faint” (Luke 18:1 KJV)

Children of God must consider it essential to utilize the benefits of prayer to get whatever they want from Him.

What Is Prayer?

The term “prayer” can be interchanged with “communication.” That is, prayer means communication with God.

Prayer shows that we are dependent on God.

Nothing can be more important than prayer in a believer’s life! It is powerful to influencing every area of human life.

“Prayer can be applied to every aspect of life.”

Prayer is advantageous for all. A person who prays will see things working in his favor. He would be strong in faith to combat and overcome any challenge of life that confronts him.

Someone who prays will have the inner strength to maintain a stable mind. When exercised, prayer enhances our faith to wait for the inevitable power of God.

People tend to trust God more over an issue they have prayed about. Why?

Because prayer is more or less the spiritual juice that keeps us balance and stable on a swinging pendulum of life.

In other words, a prayerful person is bound to have a stable mind to withstand the windstorm of life!

Does prayer leads to salvation?

No, salvation comes freely from God, but not entirely isolated from prayer. We are not saved because we prayed; we are saved because we confessed our faith in Jesus Christ.

(Our confession of faith in Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior has earned us the salvation).

As said, salvation does not degenerate from prayer; it comes from the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord. However, prayer makes its own impact!

Believers are saved by the grace of God (through Jesus Christ), but when we pray, strong conviction comes that emphasizes we are the children of God!
